Deer Creek Canyon

Description

Deer Creek Canyon is a popular southern front range gateway to the mountains. On weekends the canyon is full of avid cyclists wishing to test them self on this tough climb.

Difficulty

It is only around 9 miles from the bottom to the top, but it is very difficult climbing around 1700 feet. The first 7.5 miles are are difficult, but then it gets even tougher until you reach the top. Of course if you are heading back at that point it is all down hill from there.

The Route

From Wadsworth and Deer Creek Canyon road ride west until you reach the summit, then turn around and fly down the mountain.

Hazards

The canyon opening can be busy and has little or no shoulder.

Overall Rating:

The traffic is sometimes heavy somtimes, but if you can make it out on a weekend the combination of beautiful scenery and a challenging climb make it a great ride!
