Hoosier Pass
Description
The RouteFrom Brecekenridge
ride south on Highway 9 climbing up over Hoosier Pass and descending
down into Fairplay. Alternatively, start in Fairplay and ride
to Breckenridge
and back. |
HazardsThe traffic can sometimes be heavy and the road shoulder disppears not long after you leave Breckenridge. Also, the north side is also very curvy and the road is in poor condition so take care on the descent. As in all high elevation rides wear sun tan lotion, bring a jacket just in case, and of course lots of water. |
DifficultyWith 1900 ft. elevation gain from Breckenridge to the crest of Hoosier Pass and another 1500 ft. of elevation gain from Fairplay to the pass this ride has some good climbing. Coming from either side the gradient starts low and then gradually increases upwards though the switchbacks to the top of the pass.. |
