Colorado Highway 105 to Palmer LakeDescription

The Palmer Lake Ride is a 47 mile ride that runs along Colorado Highway 105 from Sedalia to Palmer Lake and back again.  It includes scenic view of the mountains to the west, as well as ranches, and the Pike National Forest.

Difficulty

The ride to Palmer Lake appears flat in some areas, but gradually ascends nearly 2100 feet in elevation, but don't let me fool you there are about a dozen good hills on the way to Palmer Lake that will keep you out of your saddle and breathing heavy.

The Route

From Colorado Highway 67 and Highway 105 in Sedalia ride south on 105 until you reach Palmer Lake.  Then turn around and take it all in again until your back in Sedalia.

Hazards

The traffic is fairly light and in most areas there is an adequate shoulder to stay off the road, but watch out for the hundreds of Harley riders on the route.

Overall Rating: 3 stars

The first few miles of the ride has fairly boring scenary, but as your approach Palmer Lake it improves with lots of trees and great mountain views.  It is moderately challenging in some areas and the traffic is light.  Once you hit the city of Palmer Lake be sure to ride the extra half mile down to the lake it will be worth your trip.
