Squaw Pass

Description

View coming over Squaw PassThe Squaw Pass ride is a 17 mile ride from Bergen Park in Evergreen up over Squaw Pass to Echo Lake.  It is a beautiful ride that has spectacular views.

Hazards

The road goes up over 11,000 feet so be prepared for cold weather.  Also the road is in disrepair on some of the sharp turns so take it easy coming back down.

From Bergen Park in Evergreen ride west on Highway 103 up over Squaw Pass until you reach Echo Lake.  From there, ride back or for a really challenging ride, try a climb up over Mt. Evans.

Difficulty

The ride doesn't have the steepest of grades, but it is still a very long hard climb with around 3000 feet of elevation gain going up over Squaw Pass.

The views alone make it a 4 star ride.  The traffic is fairly light and the high altitude makes it fairly cool, so it is great one to take when it is 90 degrees in Denver.
